Cows, monkeys, pigs and dogs rejoice as they communally rummage through dumpsters toppled over into roadways and empty lots. An unusual alliance in the animal kingdom.
Always you see people working, working, working. Men and women breaking large rocks into small rocks with hammers, poking at gutters with crowbars, lifting impossibly large and light or small and heavy burdens... Always working...
Always you see people sitting, sitting, sitting. Squatting, staring, thinking, not thinking. Sadhus who become like landmarks, never moving, never leaving their corner of the world. Always sitting, thinking, or not thinking.
And always praying, always something spiritual, something with the quality of the divine. Divinity and dirt. Divinity and work. And cows. And plastic. And sequins.
