I'd say this picture pretty much sums me up. I like outside, I like new places, and I am just a little bit awkward.
This picture was taken when I traveled to Nepal after college. I graduated a little early so I could have an adventure before entering the "real world." I bought a Lonely Planet, packed a backpack (and did a poor job of it, let me tell you), and headed off to the other side of the world on my own. Looking back, I'm not really sure what compelled me to do it - but I was compelled. I don't even remember thinking all that much about it. It just kind of happened. My life tends to go that way. And it was that trip that led me to where I am today: ready to set out to see the world in a new light.
Let me backtrack for a moment. The handsome man I'm with at the top of this page is my husband (aka team mate in life) Adam. I met Adam when I was 15. It was his senior year in high school and he decided to join a play. I was a committed drama girl at the time, and we ended up playing the leading roles of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town." Our first kiss was on stage (about as cheesy as it gets), and the rest is pretty much history. Things just fell into place.
Adam and I have always loved to travel, both together and apart. So, when I decided to head off to Nepal after college, Adam decided to venture to New Zealand to visit a friend. It was on those separate paths that we each came to the same conclusion: we had a lot more exploring to do before settling down.
Adam and I both have adventurous hearts and a seemingly unquenchable thirst for new experiences. So, after spending 12 years together and the past 5 years settled in jobs we love in education, we decided it was time for us to set out on an adventure together. We will be hiking the Pacific Crest Trail during the summer and fall of 2014, then traveling the world until we decide it's time to come home... wherever that may be.
We are really just trying to get the most out of the lives we have. We live in a beautiful world and we want to soak up every drop of it... it'd be rude not to. And we would hate to be rude.
