The trip totaled about 80 miles, with the bulk of the riding happening on our second day (about 45 miles). It was exhausting, and on the major roads, the pollution definitely took a toll on our lungs, but the times when we could get off the main roads and into the villages, on dirt roads lined with banana trees: that was the highlight of the journey.
On our last day, we took a small bus back into Saigon, as biking in and out of Saigon is madness. We did, however, have to ride from the bus station to the hotel on the crazy crowded streets. It was exhilarating madness, navigating the jam packed round-abouts, but we managed to get back to our hotel without incident, to our surprise, and the surprise of the woman at the front desk of our hotel, who looked worried about our plans to begin with. She was happily surprised to hear that we had a good time.
