Our road trip took us first to Chico where we visited the Sierra Nevada Brewery, and later to Redding where we took the U-Haul off road a bit to get ourselves to the wineries.
Finally, we ended up in Mt. Shasta, sadly dropped off our U-Haul, and made our way to the bus station to get back onto the trail. After our time off, we were definitely ready to get back to the woods (as usual), but we ran into a little trouble. His name was Camel. It was hot out and Adam and I were bemoaning the long 4500 foot hike uphill we would have to get out of Shasta. Camel, a fellow hiker we had met, moseyed on up the street and made an exceptionally true comment: "You could just stay the night in Shasta." And that sounded fun, and so we did... Because it would be rude not to.
